Medical Advisor

Barry Baines, MD joined Stan and Clarence on the Health Chatter Podcast in February 2024,
serving in the role of Medical Advisor. He practiced Medicine as a Family Physician for 20 years
and additional years as a hospice medical director.

Dr. Baines received a B.A in Psychology from Brooklyn College in 1971, and an M.D. degree
from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1975. He completed a Family Practice
Residency at the University of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Madison, Wisconsin, 1978.
Dr. Baines is a leading authority on the use of ethical wills/legacy letters--a way to pass
on your values, beliefs, hopes, and life lessons to family, friends, and community. He
pioneered its use in hospice and palliative care settings. He is the author of Ethical
Wills: Putting Your Values on Paper.

Barry’s interests include being a math classroom volunteer for 5th and 6th graders at
Minneapolis Public Schools, auditing classes at the University of Minnesota, reading, running,
and maintaining a wide social network.
